Building Project Architects
HIP Architects was founded in 1938 as Rule, Wynn and Rule and has practiced through a series of evolving firms to its present name of HIP Architects. Through six decades of practice we have provided a consistently high level of quality design services to our clients in Edmonton and Northern Alberta. This is demonstrated in the large portfolio of repeat clients that continue to retain the firm based on our ability to meet their program expectations, schedule and budget.
We provide architectural, planning and interior design services in the following core areas of practice: conservation, commercial, government/public works, residential, industrial, medical and research, cultural and recreational, retail, and strategic/urban planning. Whereas there is diversity of building types, there is also consistency in clarity of planning and design through all core areas.
Our projects range from large urban constructs through to small crafted works with the most successful in the budget range of $10 million. Appropriate and innovative design responses to different needs and context is evident in the variety of our built work. Over the years we have consistently won many design awards with the most recent being the prestigious Canadian Architectural Award for the new Ukrainian Museum project in downtown Edmonton.
HIP is lead by four principals: Craig Henderson, Stewart Inglis, Allan Partridge and Randy Krebes. These four architects lead their design teams through the entire design/construction process of the clients’ projects. Our studio employs the most current technology to assist our people in producing compelling design images and solutions which is transposed seamlessly throughout the preparation of construction documents with our clients. This assists us in creating a contiguous and client focused process of engagement resulting in clarity of communication and an excellent built outcome.
In its planning and architectural works, the firm is committed to sustainable and community based solutions to the built environment. As we move to our seventh decade of architectural practice, we will constantly embrace changes and evolving technologies as they challenge us in our ongoing mandate in servicing our clients with the same passion, energy and commitment to our craft as those who preceded us.
